The Devil’s Offer

It’s been quite a while since I posted anything. I have been very busy dealing with my frustrations at work. I forgot that writing about it would somehow relieve some of the stress. I am a little better now with the idea that when I get home each day, I am in the company of the ones I love the most and that’s actually all it takes to have a happy life.

Sometimes I really wonder why we are given choices we are not capable of taking. All that we need to have a fruitful life is really inexpensive and yet we are here in the land of milk and honey while the rest of us are dreaming of getting here. We work so hard to earn so much and then spend it on expensive and wanted pleasures. All we need is not that much and yet we still find ourselves wanting more. Little we realize that it is eating us inside, causing sickness we are unaware of.

We know that we have the choice to leave the urban life but why can’t we do it? They say knowledge is power and it is a proven fact. This power is like all other kinds of power, it is addicting. We are in denial that we are not in control of our lives. We do not know that we are being robbed from the happiness we deserve. We always brag that we make our own destiny; that we are the masters of our own fate but in reality we are not even capable of escaping from the reality we allegedly made. We are nothing less than thieves being lured by the smell of money.

The fact is we’ve been deceived by the devil’s offer of a better life from the good life we already have. It is also a fact that it is human nature to want more than we already have and that we are easily seduced by the devil. If I were to be blessed with a gift, I’d choose innocence over knowledge so I can be contented with the good life I already have. Be free from financial troubles and have the luxury of time for my family and friends.
